What flooring is best for children?

Synthetic carpet is a great flooring choice if you have children in the house. It is fuller and therefore softer on the knees for the inevitable trips and falls, it is also stain resistant and easy to keep clean too.

What is the best flooring if you have allergies?

If you suffer with asthma or allergies relating to dust then either hard flooring or natural flooring is best. Hard floors such as luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) repel dirt, dust mites and other allergens making them easy to maintain and keep clean. Natural flooring such as sisal and seagrass are also a good choice because they do not have loose fibres which can irritate allergies like other carpets.

What flooring is best if you have pets?

Hard flooring is best if you have pets in the house but particularly LVT as it is easy to keep clean and the textured surface means there is less slip. If you prefer carpet then synthetic ones are preferred due to their resistance to stain, it is advisable to avoid woollens and loop piles because they can be harder to clean and cats and dogs can easily get their claws stuck in the pile.

What is the easiest flooring to care for and keep clean?

The easiest flooring to keep clean is LVT and synthetic stain resistant carpets.

What flooring is best for kitchen?

Naturally hard flooring is best for kitchen areas however not solid or engineered wood flooring due to the way they react with water. If you had your heart set on wood, then LVT in a design replicating real wood is the perfect substitute.

What flooring is best for bathrooms?

Bathrooms are an area where you can really get creative so bespoke designed LVT are very popular. Vinyl is a cheaper flooring solution for bathrooms as it is quite spongy and warm underfoot (perfect once out the tub) it is also water, wear and slip resistant. However if you prefer carpet in your bathroom, we stock carpet with a waterproof backing such as Carousel Bathroom Carpet and Flotex.

What flooring is best for older properties?

Older properties suit traditional looking LVT, natural wood and berber style carpets.

Damp and moths can be a problem in older properties and cottages which can cause issues with new flooring if not adequately resolved. We damp test all our properties as part of our site visit and preparation so you won’t experience any problems and our berber carpets are moth proof so your flooring will last and be in keeping with the traditional surrounds. If your property has an open fire which is common in older homes, wool or natural fibre carpets or rugs would be an appropriate choice as they are more resistant to flying sparks than synthetic ones.

Do you put flooring in new builds?

Yes, any flooring will work well in new builds so you will have plenty of choice. When fitting floors in new builds we liaise with work sites and other trades people to ensure everything runs smoothly and fitted in time with your move, as it is normally the last thing to be done.
